3. How much is the registration fee with Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) to carry out timber related activity?

Registration Fee is based on activities as listed below:

4. How long does it take to process a Recommendation Letter for employment application of a Foreign Worker or Expatriate?
  • Seven (7) Working Days.
5. How to apply for the Recommendation Letter for employment application of a Foreign Worker or Expatriate?
  • Register with STIDC through Registration Division as an Exporter or Importer (for first user) of timber and timber products as required by the Sarawak Timber Industry (Registration) Regulations, 2008;
  • All applications must be submitted to the nearest STIDC Office together with the relevant supporting documents.

9. What are the benefits of the Forest Management Unit (FMU) after obtaining Forest Management Certification?
  • License tenure of up to 60 years

10. What are the common offence committed by the timber industry?
  • The company does not register with STIDC as required under Section 5A(1), The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation Ordinan, 1973.
11. What are the prerequisite requirements to undertake timber related activities?
  • The company needs to register with STIDC for manufacturing (M) activities and mill licence.
12. What would be the action taken if the company fails to register with STIDC for manufacturing (M) activities?
  • The mill operation will be ceased and the machineries will be confiscated during investigation. If found guilty, the company will be compounded.
13. What would be the action taken if the company operates without the import and export permit from STIDC?
  • The company operation will be ceased and the timber product will be confiscated during investigation. If found guilty, the company will be compounded and the timber product will be seized.
14. What are the documents required to apply for a mill licence?


Applicants are required to submit the followings:

  • Application Letter;
  • Four (4) copies of Mill Layout Plan;
  • Copy of Manufacturing Licence (ICC/ICA Approval); and
  • Copy of Land Title / Extract of Land Title.

15. How to apply Manufacturing Licence (ICC/ICA Approval)?


A company with a paid-up capital/shareholder’s fund of RM2.5 million or more OR Manpower of 75 people or more can apply for a manufacturing licence (ICA) through https://www.mida.gov.my/home/  


A company with a paid-up capital/shareholder’s fund below RM2.5 million OR Manpower below 75 people can apply for a manufacturing licence (ICC) through  http://mid.sarawak.gov.my
