The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) and the Malaysian Community Care Foundation Resources Sdn Bhd (MCCFRSB) have forged a collaboration for the Sarawak Bamboo Project.
In a significant move, both parties have exchanged Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) documents to work together on the Proposed Collaboration for the Sarawak Bamboo Project.
The agreement entails promoting bamboo products globally, conducting research, propagation, and establishing processing facilities for green economy ventures. It also involves providing initial funding, mutually agreeing on proposals and areas of cooperation before commencing work, and establishing a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to efficiently manage commercial aspects.
Bamboo augurs well with the Global Agenda Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production. This is because bamboo products are eco-friendly and sustainable options compared to traditional materials like plastic and wood. Moreover, it supports the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS) vision, which aims to promote social inclusivity, environmental sustainability, and economic prosperity. Ultimately, this contributes to the goal of creating a 'Sarawak Maju Makmur' or a 'Prosperous Sarawak'.
This collaboration promises exciting prospects for sustainable development and economic growth in Sarawak.
