Application of Import LicenseApplication of Import License

A. Supporting Documents

All registered companies are required to submit the following documents through ePermit System. The documents required for the specific products are as follows:

2.1 Logs

No. Type of Document Source of the Document
i. Certificate Country of Origin
  • Importers
ii. Phytosanitory Certificate
iii. Commercial Invoice
iv. Bill of Lading
v. Packing Lists
vi. Certificate of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) (if applicable)
  • Supplier Country
vii. Approval Letter for import quota of logs.
  • Ministry of Resource Planning & Environment (MRPE)


B. Physical Inspection

a) Physical Inspection for Import of logs and Timber Products.
b) It is mandatory to carry out physical inspection for all imported logs and timber products.
c) Done after clearance of the imported products by The Royal Customs Department at port.
d) The purpose is to ensure the authenticity of the imported products.

C. Criteria in Application of Import License

Criterion to import log/ flitches

a) Approval letter to import Log or flitches from Ministry of Resource Planning & Environment of Sarawak
b) Importer must have valid mill license
c) The origin of timber species are not from Sarawak
d) To be processed for value added products only
e) Logs must be fumigated by methyl bromide or other accepted treatment at the exporting country


Criterion to Import timber products

a) Importer must have valid mill license
b) For Plywood: only “fancy & decorative plywood” are permitted
c) To be processed for value added products only


All registered importers are required to submit their application online together with the relevant supporting documents online to STIDC. The supporting documents required to be submitted for the specific products are as follows:
